Italy’s first Jewelry Museum opens in Vicenza
On December 17, 2014, the first Jewelry Museum in Italy was inaugurated in Vicenza, a unique institution entirely dedicated to the culture of jewelry. The project was conceived by Alba Cappellieri, who also serves as the museum’s director, with exhibition design by Patricia Urquiola. Located within the Basilica Palladiana, the museum covers 410 square meters and is promoted by Fiera di Vicenza in partnership with the Municipality of Vicenza.
Selected .bijouets pieces are featured in the Future section, curated by Aldo Bakker, as representative examples of new directions in contemporary jewelry. These include the Beads necklace by Selvaggia Armani, the Holes ring by M.J. Carew and the Anemone bracelet by Daniele Bortotto.
The Jewelry Museum is one of the very few institutions worldwide entirely devoted to this field, offering a cultural experience that highlights jewelry as a historical, symbolic and design object.
